On Mount Hood: A Biography of Oregon's Perilous Peak

On Mount Hood: A Biography of Oregon's Perilous Peak - Jon Bell This was my second read of this book, and I'm sure many more will follow. As a Portland native I have feelings about Mt. Hood, and have spent much of my life on it in some capacity. It was incredibly enjoyable to read about pieces that I'd experienced (tour of the Bull Run watershed, hiking the Timberline Trail) as well as those on my bucket list (Ramona Falls, summiting the mountain) and things I knew very little about (glacier hydrology, ski history).

Some of the complaints about this book seem to be that it covers many topics, but none in-depth. While I would agree that it was very broad, it inspired me to find out more about what interested me, and I thought the author did an excellent job of weaving together so many aspects of "the mountain".
